Newsletter-WPTWisconsin Public Television is a member supported station located in Vilas Communications Hall on the UW-Madison campus.  More than 1.3 million viewers annually tune in to watch exciting and inspirational programs profiling arts and culture, science and nature, history and current events, and documentaries. Some of our most respected programs include Nature, Nova, Antiques Roadshow, PBS Newshour and Downton Abbey!

If you enjoy watching Wisconsin Public Television, consider lending your time and enthusiasm as a volunteer!  Volunteering is a great way to meet new people in your community while supporting the programs you love at WPT.  Choose from the following volunteer events:

Membership Drives: Talk on the phone with viewers interested in making a contribution to the station.  Fundraising drives are held in March, May, August and December. Refreshments, snacks and a free meal are included!  Click here for more information.

Quilt Expo: If you love to quilt or appreciate the art of quilting this is the perfect event for you!  Quilt Expo takes place at the Alliant Energy Center in September and features lectures, workshops, a magnificent quilt exhibit, and a vendor mall.  Volunteers receive free admission and parking.  Click here to learn more.

Garden Expo: Looking for ways to rejuvenate your garden or spruce up your landscaping?  Spend a day or more at Garden Expo held at the Alliant Energy Center in February.  Enjoy free seminars and demonstrations and check out the latest products in our exhibitor mall.  Volunteers receive free admission and parking.  Click here for more information.

Auction: Auction is the perfect opportunity to experience the fun and excitement of live television!  Use your skills and talents to help WPT auction off more than 4,000 items on-air. Both on-camera and behind the scenes jobs assignments are available.

Habitat for Humanity of Dane County

Socialize while supporting your community: consider volunteering with Habitat for Humanity!

Habitat for Humanity1 Habitat for Humanity of Dane County has lots of ways you can get involved, whether you are interested in volunteering one time or on a committed basis we have an opportunity for you!

  • Volunteer for a day on a Habitat construction site! Habitat provides all the tools, safety equipment and supervision that you will need. There is no building experience necessary. You can sign up online here.
  • Consider joining HYP our Habitat Young Professionals Group.  HYP has monthly social events, group build days, along with fundraising and committee work. You can learn more about joining HYP here.
  • Are you keen on being green? Consider volunteering at the Habitat ReStore our new and used building material store that raises money to buildHabitat for Humanity2 Habitat homes and keeps thousands of tons of reusable material out of the landfill! Habitat ReStore volunteer opportunities are typically on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, a commitment of about four hours.
